No aces were recorded on an excellent passing Cardinal team. Drueke, Leah Jockens, and Addison Birmeier all recorded 3 kills in the match. Mazee Johnson was credited with 2 blocks. The deciding third set was plagued by serving errors with a total of 8 between the two teams. BC got down early 2-9 before chipping away at the lead 2-3 points at a time. On September 22, Boyd County hosted the Huskies for the first ever dual between the two NVC teams. Both JV and Varsity contests would be best 3 of 5.
The JV Spartans gained valuable experience once again as everyone was able to get court time. Tough serves from West Holt led to some long scoring runs and found Spartans playing from behind all night. Set two showed a little more competitive edge, but a 10 point run made for a tough comeback. Lady Spartans lost in 3 with scores of 12-25, 18-25, 7-25. Claire Reiman served well and had 10 service points. Offensively, Reiman had 6 set assists and Elizabeth Bernt added 2. Digs were led by Mazee Johnson and Reiman with 7 each, Ziebro 6, and Lechtenberg and Ashlynn Finnegan each added 5.
A loud and supportive crowd was on hand for a competitive varsity contest. Set one was close early with neither team able to grab the lead. A mid-set, 6 point run by West Holt put them up by 9. Spartans were unable to make up the deficit and lost 17-25. Set two found another tight contest between the evenly matched teams. Boyd County eventually pulled ahead and led by as many as 6, but the Huskies continued to fight back. The team wasn't able to refocus following a Spartan timeout still leading 22-21. West Holt would grab set two 23-25. Set 3 didn't disappoint with lots of excitement. Boyd County took an early lead forcing a WH timeout at 12-8. Spartans continued to click and were up 17-10. The Huskies stormed back trying to prevent extra sets. Even after a timeout at 21-19, West Holt rolled and kept serve taking the 3 set win 21-25.
Drueke notched 20 digs, 4 set assists and 7 kills, Hoffman had 6 kills, 6 digs and 1 block. Johnson had 3 blocks. Almgren recorded 7 set assists with Bernt adding 5. Lanie Lechtenberg had 13 digs from her libero position.
