Spartan JV volleyball visited Stuart on September 23rd for a best of 2 out of 3 match. The first set was a back and forth side out game until about 8-8 and Stuart went on a little run. Boyd County struggled with their serves and keeping control of the ball. They were plagued by low energy and poor communication on the court which led to balls dropping and mis-hits. Stuart won set 1 by a score of 17-25. Set two brought a little more energy from the Boyd County side. The set was 10-13 with Spartans trailing. After trading side-outs and a couple more Stuart 3 point runs, BC called a timeout at 15-21. Boyd County continued to battle and got a nice serving run from Rylie Haun forcing Stuart to take a timeout at 24-24. Spartans avoided one match point, but Stuart sided out and scored the final three points needed to secure a win, 26-28.
On the night, Boyd County only had 4 aces to their 8 service errors. Defensively, Bentley Adams and Rylie Haun had 9 digs each, Haylie Carson 7, Jenny Goesch 6 and Amelia Hoffman 5. Net play was quiet on the night with Haylie recording 4 kills, Bentley 3 and Amelia 2. Rylie was credited with 8 set assists and Haylie added 2. The girls did get a few kill blocks, with Kiryn grabbing 2, and Amelia and Leah Jockens each with 1.
