The Lady Spartans showed grit and determination on Tuesday, October 13th with a victory over North Central after 5 sets of action with the scores of 13-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, and 15-13. Sophomore Amelia Hoffman led the team in serving with 7 ace serves and 20 service points. The leadership shown by the experienced Lady Spartan’s players at the net helped push the team to a win with Senior Kiryn Kayl hitting the ball 28 times with 8 kills. In addition, Senior Lauryn Hoffman and Senior Audrey Mohr both had 7 kills, while Junior Daydra Zeisler contributed with 6 kills. The offense was set up mainly by Senior Lauryn Hoffman, who set the ball 89 times and had 16 assists.
The Lady Spartans continued to see success later in the week against Ainsworth on Thursday October 15th. The Lady Spartans won after 4 sets of play with the scores of 18-25, 25-22, 25-14, and 25-23. Senior Audrey Mohr led the team with 5 ace serves and 16 service points, while Junior Daydra Zeisler had an additional 13 service points. Junior Haylie Carson had 9 kills and Senior Audrey Mohr had 7 kills to help the Lady Spartans push to victory. Senior Audrey Mohr and Junior Daydra Zeisler helped shutdown Ainsworth’s offense both with 2 solo blocks. In addition, Daydra had 7 assisted blocks and Audrey had 9 assisted blocks. Senior Lauryn Hoffman set up the offense 91 times for 21 assists. Freshman Paige Drueke’s hustle in the back row was key to the defensive play for the team, with 19 passes on serve receive and 19 defensive digs. The Lady Spartans host the first round of the NVC Tournament on Monday, October 19th.
