JV Volleyball Wins 3-1 Over EPPJ

On September 12th the Spartans hosted Elgin Public / Pope John. Junior Varsity started off the night on the right foot coming out strong in sets one and two. Tough serving, good passing and the front row making plays at the net made the Spartans tough to stop. Boyd County wins by scores of 25-9 and 25-7. Set 3 saw some substitution changes on both sides of the net. EPPJ came out firing and caught BC off-guard and playing more hesitantly. EPPJ had all the energy and won easily 9-25. Set 4 saw a close battle between the two teams. About midway the Spartans made some plays and pulled ahead 19-14. The Wolfpack edged back into the set. Unable to side out, BC called a timeout all tied up at 22-22. After trading side outs, the Spartans were able to secure the win, 25-23.
Rylie Haun recorded 14 set assists on the night with Haylie Carson adding 2 in the set she played. The lone ace block was earned by Leah Jockens. Defensively, Jenny Goesch passed well and grabbed 7 digs. The Spartans continue to serve tough with several recording aces: Rylie - 8, Bentley Adams - 3, Haylie - 3, and Kiryn Kayl and Nevaeh Jockens with 2. The Spartan front row was able to record many kills on the night. Stepping it up and leading the way was Kiryn with 10, Amelia Hoffman and Rylie with 6, Bentley and Leah with 3 and Haylie credited with 1.
