The Lady Spartans played 4 games Saturday September 26th at the Elkhorn Valley Invitational Tournament in Tilden,NE. The Spartans started their day with a loss to C1 undefeated St.Paul. The Lady Spartans were defeated in two sets,12-25, 12-25. Junior Daydra Zeisler led the Spartans with 4 service points followed by Sophomore Amelia Hoffman with 3 points. Junior Haylie Carson led the team with 4 kills, 18 serve receive passes, and 10 digs. Senior Lauryn Hoffman had 8 setting assists which contributed to additional kills by Senior Kiryn Kayl (3 kills) and Junior Daydra Zeisler (3 kills).
The second match of the day, the Lady Spartans defeated Elkhorn Valley 25-18, 20-25. 25-15. Junior Daydra Zeisler led the team with 8 kills, while setters Junior Rylie Haun had 9 assists and Senior Lauryn Hoffman had 7 assists. Senior Audrey Mohr led the team with 13 service points followed by Sophomore Amelia Hoffman with 12 service points. Freshman Paige Drueke led the Lady Spartans with 9 digs while Junior Daydra Zeisler and Sophomore Amelia Hoffman were close behind both with 8 digs each.
The Lady Spartans had a heartbreaking loss in the third match of the day to Randolph. After losing the first set 19-25, the Lady Spartans were behind 18-24 in the second set. The Lady Spartans rallied to win the second set 26-24. The Lady Spartans came up short in the third set losing 23-25. According to head coach Janet Brown, “These young ladies know how to win and continue to show that they are not willing to give up. We just came out on the wrong end of set 3. I am so proud of the effort this team brings to the court every single day.” The Lady Spartans were led by Senior Lauryn Hoffman with 11 service points. She served the ball 16 times with no errors. Senior Audrey Mohr dominated the net with 9 kills and 8 blocks assists. Senior Lauryn Hoffman set the ball 69 times for 9 assists, while Junior Rylie Haun set the ball 43 times for 10 assists. Both Junior Daydra Zeisler and Senior Lauryn Hoffman helped defensively with 16 digs each.
The Lady Spartan finished their day with Archbishop Bergan out of Fremont, who was 12-4 going into Saturday. The Lady Spartans were victorious winning two out of three sets 16-25, 25-23, 25-16 and placing 3rd place overall in the tournament. The Lady Spartans were led by Senior Audrey Mohr with 8 kills and Sophomore Ameila Hoffman with 6 kills. Senior Lauryn Hoffman set the ball more than 60 times leading the team with 13 assists. Junior Daydra Zeisler had 9 service points followed by Junior Haylie Carson with 7 points. As a whole, the team only missed 2 serves this entire match. Juniors Daydra Zeisler and Haylie Carson both contributed to the Lady Spartans being able to set up their offense, dominating the back row. Daydra Zeisler had 20 serve receive passes and 15 digs, while Haylie Carson had 19 serve receive passes and 13 digs.
