Lady Spartans Grab Two Wins in Triangular

On September 14, Boyd County was host to Creighton and Summerland for a triangular. Lady Spartans would move their record to 6-3 overall with two wins on the night. Neither would come easy, but after being challenged in set two of each, BC bounced back after a loss an came back to win 2 sets to 1 in both matches.
Creighton was the first contest of the night. The Bulldogs brought nice height and athleticism to make for a competitive match. Spartans led off strong in set one leading 6-1 and forcing an early time-out. Offense continued to click and Boyd County kept the lead. Creighton made a run a got within 3 points, but BC closed out the set 25-18. Set two saw Creighton steal the momentum and make some plays offensively. The Spartans trailed throughout and just couldn't gain the lead. The Bulldogs held on for the win, 21-25 forcing the 3rd set. Set 3 was Boyd County from the start. Several long scoring runs and a productive offense made quick work of the Bulldogs. Lady Spartans win the 3rd, 25-13 and took the match. Haylie Carson was on fire and notched 13 kills 12 digs and 1 block. Also contributing 5 kills each were Paige Drueke, Daydra Ziesler, and Amelia Hoffman. Defensively digging was led by Daydra with 18, and with 14 each were Paige, Amelia, and Rylie Haun. Rylie earned 20 set assists and let with 11 service points.
The last match of the night paired Boyd County against Summerland. Some exciting volleyball would ensue creating an electric environment. Set 1 was a tight battle for the duration with neither team letting the other get out of striking distance. BC led by as many as 5, but the Bobcats battled back to take the lead 15-16. The lead would change hand several times with each team looking at set point, but after forcing extra points, BC held on for the exciting win, 28-26. In set 2, Summerland grabbed all the energy out of the gym and stormed out to an early lead 3-11. The Spartans worked to find some rhythm and control errors. BC found fought back to within 4, but couldn't make the comeback losing 22-25. Once again in the deciding 3rd set, it was all BC from the start. Spartans took an early lead, 9-6, and continued to build on that throughout. A Summerland timeout at 20-11 couldn't break the roll, BC finished out a strong set, 25-15. Lady Spartans finished with 8 total aces on the night, with everyone recording at least one. Service points were led by Rylie, Amelia and Daydra with 10, 9 and 8 respectively. Haylie led in kills with 8, followed by Daydra adding 7 and Amelia 5. Rylie had 15 assists. Daydra, Amelia and Bentley Adams each recorded 1 solo block. Digging was led by Amelia with 23 and Paige 21.
