Spartan Basketball Has a Tough Week

Spartan Basketball Has Tough Week On December 10th, the Boyd County Spartans traveled to Osmond to challenge the defending state runner-ups. The Tigers got up quick and lead the Spartans by 25 at the half. Osmond’s intense man-to-man defense hindered the Spartans scoring efforts through the whole game. The Spartans were plagued with 27 turnovers, many of which the Tigers converted to fast break points. This is arguably the toughest squad that Boyd County will face all year. Colby Hansen managed to contribute 10 points to the Spartan offense. Colby Hansen pulled down 6 rebounds and Joseph Hiatt grabbed 5. Kannin Ellwanger also snagged 4 steals.

On December 12th, the Boyd County Spartans faced off with the athletic Crofton Warriors. The quick and disciplined Crofton team performed well offensively and the Spartans struggled to generate consistency on the offensive end. Boyd County was struck with foul trouble throughout the entire game, placing key players on the bench. Boyd County battled hard throughout the game but struggled to make key stops on defense. The Spartan offense was led with Colby Hansen’s 21 points. Hansen also tallied 8 rebounds and Joseph Hiatt added 6. Hansen and Hiatt also pitched in 4 assists each.
