The Boyd County Junior High Football team held their home opener on Monday and came away with an exciting 46-42 win over North Central. The Spartans jumped out early with long scoring runs by Charlie Adams and Barrett Koenig. Will Nelson ran for a PAT on the second score. The teams went back and forth the rest of the day with the Spartans remaining on top.
Koenig ran for another score with North Central answering. Adams then took a short kick and returned it for a touchdown. The next score was again Adams. Charlie almost found the endzone again after a long run, but was stopped just short. Nelson finished the scoring drive and Koenig added the two point PAT. Koenig added one last score for the Spartans to secure the win.
The Boyd County defense was much improved, with several players making key defensive plays. Koenig, Adams, River Hanson, Nathaniel Boettcher, Austin Cadwallader, Issac Jensen, Koy, Gonzales, and Peyton Wickersham all secured tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
