JH Spartan Football Recap

The Boyd County Junior High Football team finished their season Monday with a loss to St. Mary's.  The team finished with wins over Niobrara/Verdigre and North Central, along with losses to Stuart and St. Mary's.

Over the year each player improved in their ability and confidence.  The starting line of Derek Jensen, Kohen Paulson, and Hunter Mizner improved as the year went on.  Weston Keyes, and Wyatt Heerman came in to provide solid minutes on both sides of the line.  Gage Keyes showed that he will be ready to step in next year.

The Junior High quarterbacks were Deegan Johnson and Hudson Hoffman.  Both showed the ability to run and throw from that position.  Sam Gillaspie came in as relief in one game.

Hoffman also served in a stable of running backs with Karter Reed, Brett Koenig and Cash Sinclair.  All four rotated snaps and all four showed the ability to make big plays.  Gillaspie and Blaine Purviance provided solid backups in the backfield.  All six of these players also played in the defensive backfield, along with Johnson and Derris Hansen.  Evan Brewer and Grant McGill  also provided defensive help as safeties.

Offensive ends for the team were Hansen and Dawson Shipman.  Ben Tiefenthaler and Carson Haun added to the depth at that position.

Coaches for the team were Jeff Hart and Cameron Rust.  Lucas Philips provided great support to the team as a manager.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
