Ainsworth XC Meet Results

September 07, 2021

On Thursday, September 2, 2021 the Spartan Cross Country team drove through strong winds and heavy rain to the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course for the first meet of the season. As they pulled up to the club house the winds and rain dissipated allowing for an almost perfect day to compete.

Zoe Kaczor, sophomore, was the lone varsity girls’ runner for the Lady Spartans. Zoe ran the 5K course in 32:51 placing 30th. The varsity boys were next to lace up their running shoes.  Sophomore Nathan Koenig ran through the chute in 28th place with a 23:17 time. Next up freshman Grant McGill came through in 32nd place clocking a 24:10 for his first cross country race ever.  Freshman Evan Hammon also competed hard coming in 35th with a 24:59 time. Junior Kaleb Kaczor rounded out the team for the Spartan men placing 41st in 28:56 time. The boys team placed 6th overall.

In the junior high girls race 8th grader ReNae Kluckman ran through the finish line placing 14th in 7:12 time on the 1 mile route. 7th graders Kaci Koenig finished 30th with 7:47 and Addi Janousek finished 35th with 8:23 in their first cross country meet ever. The junior high girls placed 7th as a team.

The junior high boys saw the most success of the day for the Spartans. 8th grader Will Nelson flew through the chute in 2nd place with a time of 5:59 in his first cross country competition. He was closely followed by fellow 8th graders Ethan Zeisler and Brook Strom who finished in 8th with a time of 6:15 and 9th with a 6:19 time respectively. Alex Lechtenberg rounded out the JH boys team in 28th place with a 9:16. These young men brought home the junior high team trophy.

Congratulations to all the Spartan runners!  You represented Boyd County Schools well!  Next races include the home meet at the Butte Golf Course on Thursday, September 9th at 4:30 and Monday, September 13 in Neligh at 4:30.
